Privacy Policy

1. Local-First Focus Data

Still operates primarily as a local utility on your Mac. All core focus measurements—including time intervals, timestamps, daily focus aggregates, and focus goals—are processed and saved directly in your local macOS Application Support directory in an encrypted or sandboxed SQLite database.

This focus information never leaves your computer. We do not maintain user accounts, do not operate cloud database backends for your focus logs, and have zero access to your personal work rhythms.

2. What We Never Collect

Still is designed to observe activity levels without spying on what you are actually creating or communicating. Still strictly avoids capturing intrusive data:

• No Keystroke Logging: We never record specific key inputs or text typed.
• No Screen Recording: We never take screenshots or capture window visuals.
• No Content Inspection: We never read your document contents, browser histories, or file bodies.
• No Audio/Video: We never access your microphone or camera.
• No Clipboard Monitoring: We never inspect your clipboard or copy/paste buffer.

3. macOS System Permissions

To function as an automated focus pedometer, Still may request specific macOS permissions (such as Accessibility or system event listening):

Purpose: These permissions are used solely to observe whether user interaction events (such as typing motion or mouse movement) are currently occurring and to read the frontmost application bundle identifier. All evaluation happens instantaneously in volatile memory on your Mac. No event details are broadcast over the internet.

4. Anonymous Crash Reporting & Diagnostics

To maintain software reliability, detect memory issues, and fix crashes across various macOS versions and Mac architectures (Apple Silicon and Intel), Still may transmit anonymous diagnostic reports when unexpected errors or crashes happen.

Data Transmitted: Stack traces, operating system version, Mac hardware model identifier, app version, and error exception types.

Privacy Guarantee: These diagnostic logs are completely anonymous and are not linked to your personal identity, contact information, or your focus records.

5. Anonymous Usage Metrics

Still may collect high-level, aggregate telemetry regarding feature utilization (e.g., whether the app was launched, settings toggled, or updates checked). This helps us understand which features are useful and where the experience can be refined.

We do not partner with ad-tracking networks, do not sell data to third parties, and do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA). You can disable telemetry and crash diagnostics at any time in Still’s Preferences.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all your focus data resides locally on your Mac, you retain 100% control over it at all times.

• You can reset or clear your focus history directly within the application settings.
• Uninstalling Still and removing its Application Support directory permanently deletes all your local historical data immediately.

7. Security

Any outbound diagnostic network communication is strictly transmitted over secure, encrypted Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). We follow Apple's App Sandbox guidelines and App Store Review security standards to ensure application integrity.

8. Children's Privacy

Still does not knowingly collect, store, or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect personal identities, Still complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and international equivalents.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect app updates or legal requirements. Any revisions will be published at getstill.dev/privacy with an updated effective date.
